After trumpeting the value of WoundStat, the US Army has dropped it like a hot potato after determining that it has an unacceptable safety profile.

HemCon - dropped

Not much left in the toolkit.

Pity the Red Cross got out of the plasma product business, just in time to scuttle their pioneering Hemostatic Dressing - the first new hemostatic technology that sucessfully treated fatal hemorrhage in thousands of years and the root of the entire effort to improve battlefield hemostasis.

Oh, unlike some of the follow on and copy-cat technologies above, it WORKED and was safe.

Arista is currently being evaluated by the U of MInn as a battlefield hemostat. Trial should be underway soon. Have you seen, used or heard of it?
