The Red Cross' Hemostatic Dressing was the first new life-saving hemostatic technology in thousands of years. It was responsible for creating the entire field of advanced topical hemostats tat has seen continued innovation and progress for the past 15+ years.
To date, none of the follow-on products have achieved the efficacy, safety and usability profile of this product.
Unfortunatly, after over 50 years, the Red Cross exited the entire plasma product business back in 2004 - taking with it the best hemostatic technology in the world!
Now it appears that a new company has arisen that is developing the technology for re-launch. STB Lifesaving Technologies has the same team that started the trauma topical hemostasis field by creating the HD in the first place - and now they are doing it again!
Hopefully we will see this product in the field again in a few years. None of the current or copy-cat technologies have lived up to the performance of the ARC HD, and much blood has been shed uneccessarily as a result.
